Animated Maleo’s landing-page characters in After Effects / Lottie, and delivered senior UI/UX across client product and campaign work.
Overview
Maleo is a digital agency in Jakarta where product design and engineering sit close together. As Senior UI/UX Designer I worked across client engagements — discovery, interface design, motion direction, and handoff — while also contributing motion to Maleo’s own brand surfaces.
Landing page character animation


For Maleo’s own landing page I animated two Maleo characters in After Effects for a Lottie-driven experience. The goal was simple: make the first visit feel delightful without letting motion drown the message. Both characters were animated in a day — a focused motion pass that gave the page a living focal point while UI chrome stayed minimal.
Process across clients
Client work followed a consistent arc:
- Stakeholder alignment — map business goals to journeys before pixels.
- Low-fidelity flows — validate structure in grayscale; color and motion come after.
- High-fidelity prototypes — Figma for static states; Principle and Rive for interactive transitions.
- Motion delivery — Lottie or Rive with specs for triggers, duration, and fallbacks.

Transaction and onboarding work
For fintech clients, transaction-state animations and onboarding flows stayed restrained: one decision per screen, progress tied to real milestones, motion that confirms without celebration excess.
Design principles
- Monochrome first — if the layout needs color to work, hierarchy is wrong.
- Motion as feedback — every animation answers what happened, where I am, or what I can do next.
- Ship-ready assets — production files and specs, not just pretty mockups.
Outcome
Consistent delivery across Maleo’s client roster (Aug 2023 – Jan 2025), plus a character-led brand landing page that showed how motion can carry personality without clutter.
