Social book reading platform

Mojoreads

Product design and interaction for discovery and reading — including a hover-to-peek collections pattern that shipped to production.

Overview

Mojoreads is a social book reading and store platform. The goal was to make browsing feel as engaging as reading — discovery, progress, and community as one coherent system rather than bolted-on features.

Hover to peek

The book-collections hover interaction was designed in Sketch and prototyped in Principle in 2020. Hovering a collection peeks into covers and context without leaving the grid — a small pattern that made browsing feel tactile. The prototype made it into the production build, which remains one of the more satisfying outcomes from that period.

Reading & social surfaces

Work also covered discussion inside a book, login delight, and micro-interactions that keep long reading sessions feeling alive.

Mojoreads onboarding

Animated icon explorations and After Effects / Principle studies defined how feedback, loading, and playful moments should feel across the product — motion as product voice, not decoration.

Outcome

A discovery-first reading experience with interaction patterns that scaled across mobile and desktop, and at least one prototype — hover to peek — that survived the jump into production.
